BIOLOGY EDUCATION FOR WELL-BEING:
THE ROLE OF 21ST CENTURY SKILLS FOR INFORMED, RESPONSIBLE AND ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP

Dr. Idit Adler is a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education, in the Constantiner School of Education, at Tel Aviv University. She holds a BSc in life sciences from the Hebrew University, a MSc in zoology from Tel Aviv University, and a PhD in science education from Bar־Ilan University.
Dr. Idit Adler’s research examines educational experiences in inquiry-based and model-based learning environments, and their effects on students’ science learning, social and emotional competencies, and ability to use science to improve individual and collective well-being. She is also interested in the ways teachers can leverage classroom opportunities to support and promote their students’ self-regulated learning. During her postdoc experience at Michigan State University, she led the research efforts of Health in Our Hands, a SEPA-NIH funded project aimed at empowering students to improve individual and collective health with their community through science. She continues to expand this research area in Israel.
