Prof. Michal Zion, Lead organizer

Prof. Michal Zion earned her PhD from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel, in molecular biology. Prof Zion developed a molecular kit (Signed as medical Patent) for monitoring the progress of CML leukemia for optimizing the timing of bone marrow transplantation.

Prof. Michal Zion is the head of the Science Education Center, The School of Education, Bar־Ilan University, Israel and the academic head of the National Center for Support and Development of Biology School Laboratories. Prof. Michal Zion is a certified biology teacher and the coordinator of the biology teaching program, Bar־Ilan University and a member of the biology high school committee, The Israel Ministry of Education. Her main research areas include: biology education, science education, teaching and learning in inquiry-based learning environments, environmental education, health education and 21st century skills.

Prof. Michal Zion Won several awards of Excellence: The Dean of Life Sciences, The Hebrew University, Jerusalem., The Rector of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Wolfe Award of Excellence, The Hebrew University, Jerusalem. The Israel Ministry of Education. The Bar־Ilan University Rector Price for Scientific Innovation (2017).

From the Aug 2020 she serves as the head of the Israeli national environmental initiation "Take the Garbage with You".
